We had been looking forward to our granddaughter Ashlynn, and her boyfriend, Alex, joining us for some beautiful Mazatlan weather with outdoor partying around the El Moro pool and the renown Mazatlan fireworks for New Year’s Eve. After four weeks with only one ovenight rain, why would nature turn against us now?
While the big party around the pool had to be canceled, we did still enjoy our special buffet dinner (although our outdoor seats were a bit chilly) and then went to our balcony on the 19th floor to watch the fireworks being set off all across the city. Was still a much warmer and more exciting New Year’s Eve than sitting at home in Iowa!!
We have been able to get in several rounds of both regular golf and soccer golf. The golf course requires you to take a caddy with you, which is really different from golfing on your own. We usually ask for Aurelio, an older gentleman who can tell you exactly where you need to aim your putt to drop the ball into the hole. That’s if you can hit it in the right direction and with the right distance!! However, Aurelio has a hard time making club suggestions for me, as there is such a small difference between how far I hit my different clubs. Even the soccer golf requires a caddy to be taken along. We’ve had a great time playing both, although I am definitely much better at regular golf than soccer golf, where my usual score is 10 to 11 kicks per hole.
We ended up with only three soccer balls at the end of our soccer golf round. A friendly dog wandered onto the course and ran interference with Ashlynn’s ball, eventually grabbing it in their mouth and puncturing the ball! Our caddy then sternly informed the dog’s owner that he was responsible for purchasing a new soccer ball. I was already worn out, so let Ash finish the 18 holes with my ball.
